Rehabilitation services are a cornerstone of inclusive and effective healthcare systems, designed to enhance functioning and improve the quality of life for individuals recovering from illness, injury, or disability. However, significant disparities in access, quality, and efficiency persist, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. As global health systems strive for equity and resilience, integrating digital solutions and continuously upskilling rehabilitation providers are vital strategies for transformation. This study explores the critical intersection of digital innovation and continuous professional development (CPD) in addressing these challenges. Drawing on scholarly research (2017–2025), national strategies, and global best practices, the paper investigates how digital health tools—such as tele-rehabilitation, electronic health records (EHRs), wearable technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI)—when combined with structured CPD programs, can revolutionise rehabilitation service delivery. A core focus of the paper is the Nigerian context, where infrastructure deficits and workforce shortages hinder access to rehabilitation and its quality. Case studies highlight local successes and challenges, offering practical pathways for scaling interventions. It argues that these components, when aligned through inclusive policy and collaborative learning models, can yield substantial improvements in rehabilitative outcomes, provider quality, and system-level efficiencies.
